Fire Trucks outside Station

Serving Clarksburg and Lake Santee, Indiana

The Clarksburg Community Volunteer Fire Department is located in northeastern Decatur County in rural southeastern Indiana.

We operate out of two stations, the first is the original station in the Town of Clarksburg and the second is located at Lake Santee. The department is made up of 35 volunteer fire fighters, six of the volunteers are emergency medical technicians and two of them are paramedics. Our contracted area is just over 100 square miles that includes Fugit Township and Eastern Clinton Township in Decatur County, Southeastern Richland Township in Rush County and Southwestern Posey Township and Western Salt Creek Township in Franklin County. We also have mutual aid agreements with the 6 volunteer departments that surround us and the paid department that is located in Greensburg that borders us to the south. We average 15 or more mutual aid runs per year with these departments.

The department has seen a total increase in our runs every year for the last seven years.

Lake Santee is a private community in our coverage area of more than 500 homes. This community is the second largest in the county and has recently installed a new water plant and sewer system that will allow as many more new homes to be built in the community.

The department runs on a budget of approximately $65,000 per year that is collected from membership dues, fundraisers and local contracts. We have a long range plan that we have been updating annually to try to stay up with the tremendous growth and the new regulations required by all levels of government.
